About Us

Why the “Baby Loves Your Milk”
Breast Pumps website?

Hello, my name is Matia Bryson. When I was in high school, I learned what the human breast was for. (That’s feeding babies--for those of you who do not know.) The funny thing is I knew long before then that humans are mammals, so named for the mammary glands. I believe I was misled into assuming that Modern Woman had breasts as a kind of unnecessary leftover from evolution.

Thankfully, I changed my mind about the purpose of breasts (and about evolution) by the time my first son was born in 1980. Before his birth I read what I could, went to a La Leche League meeting, and adopted the attitude that breast feeding seemed like a good idea and I would certainly give it a try. I would not get my hopes up too high in case it did not work out for me. To make a long story short, it did work out. I was fortunate to have had a supportive husband, a very supportive pediatrician, and other breastfeeding mothers I met who were great examples to me.

Though breast feeding was not always problem-free for me, the rewards made it well worth it. I could cite how healthy my babies all were, how intelligent, and how beautiful. What I truly wish my readers will appreciate is how much I cherish the memories of the hours of nurturing a baby from the breast to feed, calm or put him or her to sleep. How can I put into words how spiritually and maternally fulfilling that is? My last child, a son, was born in 2004. I have seven children, three boys and four girls.

I hope my little website here will help my readers in choosing or using a breast pump. I remember the first breast pump I saw in the 1980’s. It looked like a bicycle horn with a rubber bulb on the end to squeeze for suction. It was pathetic, and it did not work. You certainly have many more choices now.

I have been researching and writing about breast pumps over a course of many months for my website, because I am concerned about women wasting time and money, and possibly endangering their nursing relationship, with ineffective or hazardous breast pumps. My website may not be as pretty as most, but the information on the breast pumps is top-notch, having researched and written most of it myself. From my own breastfeeding and mothering experiences with my seven children, I understand how short a window of opportunity one has in finding solutions to problems that arise in breastfeeding. Our children grow up so quickly.

I hope you find at the "Baby Loves Your Milk" website what you are looking for: meticulously researched information to make apple-to-apple comparisons of breast pumps as much as possible. I endeavored not to rehash information off the product boxes like you usually only find on the shopping websites.

Be sure to bookmark the home page and recommend it to anyone with an interest in purchasing a breast pump in the near future.
